Crazy Burning Car Video Recorded By BlackVue Dashcam

We receive quite a lot of #CaughtOnBlackVue videos of accidents, near misses and strange driver behavior on the road, but this kind of footage is (fortunately) very ; rare ; and unique.

The Car That Spontaneously Combusted

BlackVue user sent us a video recorded with his BlackVue DR750S-2CH dashcam’s front camera. His dashcam was hardwired so it could record in Parking Mode (learn more aboutBlackVue’s Parking Mode here). At around 2:30am he parked his car in the apartment complex he lived at. Within just a few minutes after he left he heard the building’s fire alarm going off and… it was his car burning!

The dashcam and everything the driver put in his car was destroyed in the fire.

BlackVue Recorded Everything

Although the DR750S-2CH installed in the car was destroyed (the plastic case severely warped because of the heat), the microSD card slot was in a relatively good shape and the driver was able to retrieve the footage in its entirety!

The video shows that around 2:53am, less than 15 minutes after the driver left the parking lot, a smoke appeared. It wasn’t long after when the flames and explosions followed. As the video recorded the incident from the start almost to the finish, it helped the driver to push the insurance claim along, showing exactly what happened.

The BlackVue user (who wants to stay anonymous), told us: “Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and watch the videos. I am truly thankful for BlackVue as without it, I would not have known what happened to my car. Aside from that, when I had the vehicle with parking mode it was such a great feature to have and a sense of security knowing that there are eyes on your car, even when you’re not there. I will always recommend BlackVue to all my friends and family.”

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

What If The MicroSD Card Was Damaged?

Thankfully the driver was able to retrieve the microSD card that contained all the recorded footage. But what if the microSD card was unusable? Our Cloud connected dashcams (DR900S Series, DR750S Series and older DR650S Series) offerEvent Live Auto upload that allows your dashcam to stream and save to the Cloud in real time when an impact–or explosion–is detected. Additionally, the latest models (DR900S and DR750S) with a Fleet Plan can make use ofEvent File Auto upload, which saves copies of Event files (both front and rear cameras) to the Cloud right after they happen.

To use Cloud features, you need a Cloud-compatible dashcam and a internet-enabled Wi-Fi network within range. ;
