Don’t drive distracted – a simple rule on the road. One that should be applied to everyone – regardless if they are driving a car or riding a bicycle. Here’s BlackVue user Farhad’s cautionary tale!

Rear-ended by a… bicycle

Farhad was driving to work when he was stopped before an intersection. He didn’t stop abruptly – he slowed down before stopping in front of another car. He then heard a thud, realizing that someone crashed into his car from behind. Turns out it was a cyclist, who first rode on the sidewalk, later entering the road. He seemed distracted as he didn’t notice Farhad’s car slowing down and then stopping. Thankfully, he seemed unharmed.

“He tried to blame me”

Farhad put on his hazard lights, inspected the damage and talked to the cyclist.

“He first tried to blame me for stopping suddenly, but I explained to him that he must keep his distance when riding on the public road. I also mentioned to him that he cannot make any false insurance claims against me as I have the whole incident captured on my BlackVue dash cam. The cyclist then apologized sincerely and we mutually agreed not to take any further action or make insurance claims against each other.” Farhad told us.

The damage was minimal and the cyclist admitted blame – but in case he wasn’t as agreeable, BlackVue dash cam would protect the driver from a false claim or the dreaded “he said, she said” situation.
